overview
In conjunction with a new greenway and redevelopment of the surrounding commercial blocks, this Miami-Dade Transit Metromover Station was rebuilt to increase transparency and improve pedestrian connectivity to the Miami River.
design approach
The design has focused on securing vertical circulation while minimizing fencing and obstructions at the pedestrian level. The solution was to raise the secure zone, creating a sculptural element which brings landscape vocabulary into the vertical plane. The three-block greenway uses native canopy trees and groundcovers, framed by contemporary planters and seating constructed from local oolitic limestone.
